Ale the fun at Indy Man Beer Con

Last week we found ourselves in the stunning Victoria Baths, wading through delicious street food, amazing atmosphere and beers from over 40 breweries, as the Independent Manchester Been Convention made its return for 2015.

We were tasked with managing the press for the four-day event, inviting key regional press, drinks writers and beer bloggers, whilst also ensuring a strong pre and post-event coverage.

Tapping into newsworthy landmarks in the lead-up to the festival such as the initial announcement, news of record ticket sales and the full line-up announcement – which coincided with a launch party at Port Street Beer House back in September – we were able to secure some great coverage from titles including Manchester Evening News, Creative Tourist, Manchester Confidential, Manchester Wire, Time Out Manchester, Taste of Manchester, Northern Soul and The Mancunion, plus beer and drinks bloggers from across the UK such as Beer Compurgation, Beer Battered, The Crafty Beeress, Pub Geek, A FemAle View on Beer and The Noise That We Made.

New to the event this year, We Can made its IMBC debut with a miniature canning line, providing the means for people to take home their favourite brews – mine included Weird Beard/IMBC Gooseberry Pale collaboration and Magic Rock’s Bearded Lady PX BA, a stout made with my beloved Pedro Ximénez sherry! I also got to explore the world of sour beers more, having tried and enjoyed a fair few last year.

And, of course, it wouldn’t be Indy Man Beer Con for us without a cheese board from Epicerie Ludo, who also served up a fromagerie fix at the IMBC launch at Port Street Beer House back in September. One week on and we’re still dreaming about that saucisson, too.

It was also great to get a taste of Liverpool’s Bundobust ahead of its launch here in Manchester in 2016 (the okra fries were unbelievable!), and they were flanked by various other regional heroes such as Honest Crust, Diamond Dogs, Almost Famous, Fish & (whose fritto misto was seriously, seriously moreish), Great North Pie Co., Karkli and We Eat.

Yep, definitely still thinking about that charcuterie…
